A Taste of Local: Chicken Pesto Tagliatelle & Stanlake Park Wine

Good food, a great bottle of wine and ingredients picked up from local independents, you don't need to travel far to put something special on the table.

We're delighted to be stocking a selection of Stanlake Park Wines in our Wheatley shop, produced at the Berkshire vineyard just a short distance from us.

To celebrate, we're launching a new monthly feature: a seasonal recipe paired with one of our Stanlake Park wines, using ingredients you can pick up from our shop and other independent businesses around Wheatley and Thame.

This month: Chicken Pesto Tagliatelle

Our first recipe is a creamy Chicken Pesto Tagliatelle, paired with Stanlake Park Regatta White and our Artisan Sourdough.

You'll need:

  • Seggiano Tagliatelle

  • Seggiano Raw Basil Pesto

  • Cream Cheese

  • Parmesan

  • Fresh Basil & Lemon, optional

  • Lunaio Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Chicken Breast

  • Sourdough

You can pick up the pasta, pesto, garlic oil, artisan sourdough and the wine from our shop in Wheatley.

For the chicken, pay a visit to our neighbours at Hickman's Butchers in Wheatley, another great local independent right on our doorstep.

Method

  1. Cook the tagliatelle according to the packet instructions, then drain, reserving a little of the pasta water.

  2. Slice the chicken and cook until golden and cooked through.

  3. Lower the heat and add the pesto and cream cheese. Stir together, adding a splash of the reserved pasta water until you have a silky sauce.

  4. Add the cooked taliatelle and toss everything together until well coated.

  5. Finish with grated parmesan, fresh basil and a little lemon if you fancy it.

  6. Serve with thick cut slices of Cornfield Sourdough, drizzled with a little lunaio Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

And, of course, the wine...

Pour a chilled glass of Stanlake Park Regatta White and dinner is ready.

You'll find Regatta White alongside our growing selection of Stanlake Park Wines at Cornfield Bakery in Wheatley.

Make dinner local

One of the reasons we love this idea is that it gives us another opportunity to celebrate the brilliant independent businesses around us.

If you're shopping in Wheatley, pick up your bread, wine and store-cupboard ingredients from us, then visit Hickmans Butchers for your meat.

Over in Thame, you can visit our cafe and bakery on Buttermarket for freshly baked artisan bread and then pop along to Wrens of Thame for your meat.

And while you're there, have a wander.

Both Wheatley and Thame have some fantastic independent shops and businesses that are well worth supporting.

Shopping locally doesn't have to mean making life more complicated. Sometimes it can be as simple as deciding what's for dinner and seeing how much of it you can find right on your doorstep.

A new recipe every month

This is just the beginning.

Each month we'll be sharing another recipe, pairing it with one of our Stanlake Park wines and highlighting some of the wonderful products available from Cornfield Bakery and our fellow local businesses.

You can discover our latest recipes from our shop in Wheatley, Facebook and newsletter.

For now, all that's left to do is open the wine, tear off a piece of sourdough and enjoy.

Cheers!
